MimicMe Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

Summary: MimicMe does not require an account. Your voice recordings and generated audio stay on your device unless you choose to share or export them. The Android app uses Google AdMob for advertising, Firebase Crashlytics for diagnostic crash reports, Firebase Cloud Messaging for optional announcements, and Cloud Firestore when you choose to report a clip, card or translation. A content report includes the reported item's text, but never its audio.

1. About MimicMe

MimicMe is an offline voice cloning app. It records a few seconds of a voice and can then read any text in that voice, in several languages. Recording, transcription, voice cloning, translation and playback all run on your phone. There is no MimicMe server and no sign-in. An internet connection is used for ads and advertising privacy choices, diagnostic crash reports, announcements, content reports when you tap Report, and optional language packs from Google Play.

2. Information stored on your device

MimicMe stores the following in its private app storage:

This information is not uploaded to any server, is excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, and is not connected to a personal account.

3. Microphone and files

The microphone is used only while you are on a recording screen and have tapped Record, Dictate or Verify. Audio files and documents are read only when you choose them through the system file picker. Nothing you record or open leaves the device unless you share or save it yourself (section 7).

4. Crash reports and Firebase

The Android version includes Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google. If the app crashes, a report containing the stack trace, device model, operating-system version, app version and a random installation identifier is sent so the bug can be fixed. Crash reports never contain audio, text, transcripts or file names. MimicMe does not include Firebase Analytics, and analytics collection is explicitly disabled. Firebase services may automatically process:

Content reports. If you tap Report on a clip, greeting card or translation, MimicMe sends the reason you pick, your optional note, the text of that item, where it was made (for example Home or Library), its language and a random local id of the item, plus the app version and Android version, to a Cloud Firestore database run by Google for MimicMe. Reports never include audio, voice recordings, voice names, contacts or device identifiers, and they are used only to review misuse of the app. Reports are deleted within 12 months.

5. Notifications

App-wide announcements (new languages, voice packs, features) are delivered with Firebase Cloud Messaging. MimicMe asks for notification permission once, after you have created your first voice; you may decline and keep using the app. The push token is not linked to you, is not stored by MimicMe and is not used for targeting. Notifications can be turned off at any time in your system settings for MimicMe. The Reader also shows a local notification with playback controls while it reads a document aloud in the background; that notification involves no network use.

6. Optional language packs

English, Nepali, Hindi and Chinese are included in the install. The Portuguese/French/German engine and the translation models are optional packs downloaded from Google Play through Play Asset Delivery when you request them. Google Play processes that download under its own terms; MimicMe receives no information about you from it.

7. Sharing, exports and watermark

Generated audio leaves the device only when you tap Share (through the share sheet you pick) or Save (to your Downloads folder). Voice packs exported from the Voices screen contain the reference clips and transcripts of a voice; you can encrypt them with a passphrase, and they are written only where you choose. Every generated clip carries an inaudible watermark that marks it as synthetic; the Verify screen can check any audio file for it.

8. Consent and responsible use

You may only clone your own voice or a voice you have clear permission to use. Imported clips are compared with a fresh recording of you, or must be marked as a third party's voice used with permission; the result is stored with the voice. Cloned speech must never be used to impersonate a person or to deceive.

Advertising

The free app shows ads from Google AdMob: a small ad while your audio or greeting card is being made, an optional video ad you can watch for 24 hours without ads, and occasionally a full-screen ad after you leave a finished card or save a clip. Ads never appear while you record or listen.

AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information and how you interact with ads, to show, measure and (if you agree) personalise ads. For users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for applicable advertising consent. For users in supported US states, Google's privacy message provides applicable opt-out choices. Where available, you can review or change these choices under Settings > Ads > Ad privacy choices. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your phone's settings. Ads never receive your voice, recordings, voice names, typed text or generated audio. See how Google uses information in ads.

9. Information we do not request

MimicMe does not require access to:

10. Selling and service providers

We do not sell personal information. Google processes the technical information required for Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Cloud Firestore (content reports), Google AdMob (advertising) and Play Asset Delivery under its applicable terms and privacy practices.

11. Retention and deletion

Voices, clips and settings remain on your device until you delete them in the app (Voices, Library or Settings → Storage), clear the app's storage, or uninstall MimicMe. Deleting a voice removes its clips, transcript and embedding immediately; deleting a Library item removes its audio file. Uninstalling removes everything and stops that installation from receiving notifications. Firebase retains and deletes installation identifiers and crash reports according to Google's Firebase retention practices; crash data is retained for at most 90 days. Content reports are deleted within 12 months.

12. Children's privacy

MimicMe is intended for adults. It does not require a name, email address or account and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Firebase may process the technical installation information described above.

13. Security and international processing

MimicMe minimises collection by keeping voice data on the device in app-private storage. Firebase states that information handled by its services is encrypted in transit. Google may process technical information in countries other than the country where you live under its applicable terms and privacy practices.

14. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when MimicMe's features, providers or legal obligations change. An updated policy will appear on this page with a revised effective date.
